Professor in Information Systems

The University of Agder invites applications for one 10 % permanent position as Professor in Information Systems at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Information Systems, located in Kristiansand, Norway. The starting date is negotiable with the Faculty.

 

The Department of information systems offers a bachelor’s programme, a master’s programme and a PhD specialization in Information Systems. In addition, the department is co-responsible for an executive master’s programme in management and an executive master’s programme in health informatics. Further, it is currently developing an MSc in Cyber Security, and an MBA specialization in digitalization.

 

The main research areas in the department are digital transformation, e-health and crisis information management. Description of the position

We seek an internationally recognized researcher who can contribute to the department´s ambition of being among the top international research milieus within the focus areas of the above-mentioned centres. The position is intended to strengthen the Centre for Digital Transformation - CeDiT and the Centre for eHealth, in particular in the areas of machine learning, natural language processing, and psychometrics. The candidate is expected to contribute to establishing a project portfolio related to machine learning, natural language processing, and psychometrics. The department intends to build courses in the mentioned areas, and successful candidates are expected to contribute to this.

 

Experience with developing grant proposals and the acquisition of external project funds is regarded as an asset. In addition to teaching- and scientific qualifications, emphasis will be given to the applicants’ teamwork skills and personal suitability for the position. Knowledge of a Scandinavian language will be considered an advantage.

 

Qualifications and terms

A comprehensive assessment of the applicant’s scientific qualifications forms the basis of appointment. Information about the appointment criteria for a position as Professor can be found in the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching at research posts.

 

The successful applicant must hold a PhD degree. Fluency in written and oral English is a prerequisite.

 

Emphasis will also be given to the applicants’ teaching qualifications, teamwork skills and

personal suitability for the position. Applicants who lack formal teacher training qualifications will be required to obtain such qualifications, or complete UiA’s Foundation Course in Education for University Lectures within a period of two years.

 

In the ranking of eligible applicants, emphasis will be given to the suitability of each applicant’s field of specialization in relation to meeting the needs of the Department and complementing the academic staff. With the applicant’s permission, UiA will also conduct a reference check before appointment.

The position is remunerated within the State salary scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1013, Professor NOK 682.200 - 802.600 (in a 100 % position). In the case of particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
