Professor/Associate Professor in Health Sciences (Nursing) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) announces a Professorship/Associate Professorship in Health Sciences (Nursing) as a permanent post.
This is a 100% post, funded by The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
For qualified applicants, there may be an opportunity for clinical work in an additional post.

Subject area and description of the area of responsibility for the post
Together with the department’s other academic staff, the person holding the post is responsible for teaching and research in the discipline of nursing. This includes the person's own research, and supervision of students in the discipline. The person holding the post is also obliged to take part in administrative duties.
The person holding the post will be responsible for teaching and development of the study programmes in Anesthesia nursing, Intensive Care nursing, and/or Surgical Theatre nursing at a Master level.
For appointment as a professor, an academic level conforming to established national standards is required. Further requirements are documentation of practical teaching competence based on education or on teaching and supervision, documentation of dissemination of knowledge and research, and documentation of education and experience in administration and management.
A requirement for appointment as an associate professor is a doctoral degree in the subject area concerned or competence at a corresponding level documented by academic work of the same scope and quality. A further requirement is documentation of relevant practical competence in teaching based on education or on teaching and supervision.
The successful applicant must be able to document extensive professional and clinical qualifications as well as scientific expertise in one or more aspects of the discipline for which this post is responsible.
The ability to initiate and lead research and teaching will be emphasized, in addition to teaching and supervision at PhD level. Importance will also be attached to teaching skills. The evaluation will be based on documented material related to teaching, including qualifications in educational theory and practice, presentation skills in academic work, teaching experience, and other pedagogical background. Quality and breadth will be evaluated. Emphasis will also be placed on personal aptitude.
Employees who do not have formal qualifications in teaching at university level and who cannot provide documentation of equivalent qualifications must complete an approved course in teaching at university level within two years of appointment. The University offers such courses.
Applicants who are not qualified for a professorship may be appointed to the post of associate professor. In accordance with the Regulations concerning appointment and promotion to teaching and research posts of 9 February 2006, issued by the Ministry of Education and Research, a person who is appointed as an associate professor may apply for personal promotion to a professorship.
Applicants must have a nursing degree and should have experience in clinical nursing.
Applicants should preferably have research experience in the following nursing specialties: Anesthesia nursing, Intensive Care nursing, and Surgical Theatre nursing.
Additionally, the applicants should preferably have a developing or established program of research and experience with successful grant applications for external funding is highly preferred.
Applicants must have Fluent English skills, both written and oral. Within three years of appointment, new employees who do not speak a Scandinavian language must demonstrate skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language equivalent to Level 3 in the course in Norwegian for speakers of other languages at the University.
General information about the post
The person holding the post is obliged to participate in implementation of the teaching programme according to the curricula in effect and in further development of the subject areas and teaching programmes, including continuing and further education.
The appointee is expected to teach within their relevant expertise across all study programmes at the faculty.
The person holding the post must help to ensure that students develop a global perspective on health and knowledge about global health challenges in their own subject area, and must contribute to cooperation focused on global health challenges in both research and education.
The person appointed must comply with the decisions about changes due to developments in the subject area, and the organizational changes resulting from decisions regarding the university's activities.
The appointment is subject to the conditions in effect at any time for employees in the public sector.

• Depending on qualifications and academic background, Professors (in code 1013) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will be remunerated at a minimum of NOK 609 300 per year before tax. Normal wage level is NOK 609 300 – 789 700 of which 2 % is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. Depending on qualifications and academic background, Associated Professors (in code 1011) at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences will be remunerated at a minimum of NOK 488 900 per year before tax. Normal wage level is NOK 488 900 -621 400 of which 2% is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a course in problem-based learning (PBL) for supervisors.
