Postdoctoral research fellow in mobility and migration research

The Department of Social Anthropology is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral research fellow to join a newly established research group on mobility and migration. The group engages with theoretical and methodical developments within social theory, putting a stronger emphasis on ‘mobility’ as constitutive of social forms, institutions, and networks. The group specializes in empirical research on the interconnections between movement in geographical space, social mobility, and time, and in the management of multicultural working life, including labour migration and migration industry.

In support of the overall goal, we are seeking applications from suitably qualified candidates to undertake research. The successful candidate will be expected to publish peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, to develop grant applications, and to participate in project meetings and events.

The position is a fixed term for 2 years.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Social Anthropology, focusing on mobility and migration research in a broad sense. The successful candidate will have outstanding research skills along with excellent team working skills. Ability to contribute to the Department's research environment more generally is an advantage.

Employment will be activated in accordance to existing regulations of 31.01.2006 with NTNUs supplementary purviews of 17.06.2009.

Salary and Working Conditions

The Postdoctoral Fellow is paid according to salary level 57 in the national salary scheme, gross NOK 485 700 per year, of which 2 % is deducted for the State Pension Scheme.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants. The employee is expected to accept possible changes in work tasks. Primary residency in Trondheim is a prerequisite.
