Avdeling for lærerutdanning og naturvitenskap teller 2 600 studenter og nær 190 ansatte og er organisert i fire institutter pluss et senter for praksisrettet utdanningsforskning (SEPU). Avdelingen holder til på Campus Hamar, sentralt plassert midt i Hamar by. I tillegg til våre lærer- og barnehagelærerutdanninger tilbyr avdelingen i Hamar studier innen pedagogikk, språk og litteratur, musikk, samfunnsfag, bioteknologi og studier innen spillteknologi, animasjon og digital kunst.

Campus Hamar – Department of Arts and Computer Science
The Department of Arts and Computer Science has academic communities in Game Technology and Simulation, Animation and Digital Art (with a focus on computer games), Add-on program in Virtual reality and Augmented reality and Pedagogical Use of Digital Media. The Department has a staff of 13 in addition to part-time teachers engaged on contract.
This unit currently offers two bachelor’s degree programs: the Bachelor’s Degree in Game Technology and Simulation and the Bachelor’s Degree in Animation and digital Art. From the autumn of 2017 we will start an add-on program in Virtual & augmented Reality. There are just over 200 students engaged in these study programs. Based on the combined cross-disciplinary competence the study programs form a comprehensive unit, that makes it possible to develop more extensive productions. Computer games are a regional priority area and several computer games companies have started up in Hamar, most of them with a background from studies at Hedmark University of Applied Sciences. The University together with Hamar and Elverum Municipality and local companies have a major focus on VR and AR. From the summer of 2017, an innovation center for VR, Motion Capture, companies and the University will be established. This is in collaboration with the international company EON Reality and the newly established EON Reality Norway.
The post will entail work linked to teaching, supervision and research in 3D-modelling, 3D-Animation and related areas within the study programs mentioned above. The teaching assigned to the post will comprise teaching and supervision mainly for bachelor’s degree students, but there might also be teaching of master’s degree students. Other research and teaching duties linked to projects and commissions may arise.
Applicants must be able to account for qualifications linked to the duties and responsibilities required by the post, and attach documentation of their qualifications in research and own development work, teaching and dissemination. The preferred applicant must have taken part in productions and carried out their own productions and have a good national and international network. Competence in and knowledge of how the production of computer games takes place in today’s computer game companies, will be of positive merit. It is also desirable that the applicant has relevant practice in the production of computer games and/or events and is able to use his/her competence in new contexts.
Emphasis is on the applicant’s ability to view the subject area reflectively, experience of applied research, collaboration with businesses and commercialization, as well as teaching experience.
The person employed shall contribute to the further development of the Department’s study programs, research profile and academic community, in addition to entering into extensive research projects.
Applicants must be able to account for how they will be able to contribute to the development of the
Unit’s research, education and dissemination profile in this area.
Preferred Experience, research and development in 3D modelling/rigging and Animation within:
• Computer games (serious games, entertainment, edutainment, VR and AR, engineering, education)
• Production and Project management
• Interactive design
A doctoral degree or equivalent qualification in the subject area is required for employment as Associate Professor. Qualifications in accordance with the prevailing regulations are required for employment as Senior Lecturer. Applicants with a master’s degree may have their work and experience evaluated in relation to the criteria for Senior Lectureships. This must be expressed in the application. In addition, documentation of relevant practical pedagogical competence based on education or teaching and supervision is required. New members of staff in teaching and research positions have to attend a compulsory internal course in higher education pedagogy (15 credits) if they do not already have adequate pedagogical education. The person employed must master English, orally and in writing. The teaching and working language will be both in English and Norwegian. The Add-on program in Virtual Reality will be taught in English.
Personal suitability is important, especially good abilities in creating, taking part in and carrying out processes and academic development. The candidate must also contribute to internal interaction and interaction with external collaboration partners. Special qualifications in teaching or other pedagogical activity will be given great emphasis.
The position as Associate Professor is remunerated according to code 1011 and 1198, salary level 60-70 on the Norwegian State salary scale, currently NOK 509 100 – 613 500 per year.
A position as assistant professor accord to code 1008, salary level 60 – 65 on the Norwegian State salary scale, currently NOK 512.600 – 567.100 per year.
Previous work experience will be taken into account when deciding placement on the salary scale. For especially qualified candidates higher remuneration may be considered. Personal insurance is included. A percentage of the salary will be deducted each month as an obligatory premium to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
