Postdoctor - Heat and mass transfer of ventilation energy recovery (IV-55/17)

A Postdoctoral position within heat and mass transfer of ventilation energy recovery is available at the Department of Energy and Process Engineering. The appointment has a duration of 2 years.

Job description

The applicant’s project will be devoted to the development and design of devices for heat and energy recovery from ventilation air in residential buildings in cold climates. This includes the study of heat transfer, condensation and diffusion of moisture. The applicant will use the facilities of NTNU’s laboratories and field measurements. The applicant is expected to contribute to the running of the group, by for example supervising project students and master students connected with this project.

Qualifications

At the time of beginning the position, the applicant must have a Ph.D. within HVAC with the specialty of heat and mass transfer in air to air heat exchangers. The applicant must document deep theoretical knowledge of energy exchangers applicable for residential ventilation. This includes heat and mass transfer, condensation, diffusion through membranes, frost control, and efficiency optimization of heat exchangers. Further, it is necessary with thorough experience from experimental work on heat and mass transfer.
Knowledge and practical experience with the relevant data collection using LabView and tools for handling and analysis of data, as well as experience with design and construction of prototypes is also desirable. Knowledge and experience with supervision at the master level, and day-to-day running of research group and lab are also desirable.

The successful candidate should be creative, with a strong ability to work independently and to solve practical research problems. He/she should also enjoy interdisciplinary research and take keen interest in contributing to an effective team.

The position requires spoken and written fluency in the English language. Applicants must provide evidence of good English language skills, written and spoken.

The starting date is as soon as possible, but the employment should commence before the end of March 2017.

Terms of employment

The appointment of the Postdoctoral fellows will be made according to Norwegian guidelines for universities and university colleges and to the general regulations regarding university employees.

Postdoctoral candidates are remunerated in code 1352, with a minimum of gross
NOK 485 700 per annum (before tax). There will be a 2% deduction to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross wage.
