Postdoctoral fellowship in mathematics within the project Representation Theory via Subcategories
The Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) invites applications for a postdoctoral position affiliated with the Department of Mathematical Sciences (IMF), within the project Representation Theory via Subcategories.
The position is open to researchers holding a PhD in mathematics, within a discipline relevant to the project (for instance homological algebra or representation theory).
The position is available from 1st July 2017 (or as soon as possible thereafter) and the application deadline is 1st March 2017.
Information about the department and the project
The Department of Mathematical Sciences has 35 full professors, 19 associate professors and 4 assistant professors. In addition, there are 2 adjunct professors, 6 adjunct associate professors, about 20 postdoctoral fellows and about 60 doctoral students. There are 10 women in tenured positions. The department has five research groups: algebra, analysis, differential equations and numerical analysis, geometry and topology, and statistics.
The project Representation Theory via Subcategories is funded by the Research Council of Norway, and is headed by Professor Steffen Oppermann. Apart from the project leader, the project includes two postdoctoral research positions, where one is held by Louis-Philippe Thibault.

Applicants who do not master a Scandinavian language must provide evidence of good English language skills, written and spoken. The following tests can be used as such documentation: TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE). Minimum scores are:
TOEFL: 600 (paper-based test), 92 (Internet-based test)
IELTS: 6.5, with no section lower than 5.5 (only Academic IELTS test accepted)
CAE/CPE: grade B or A.

The position as postdoctoral fellow follows code 1352, with a gross salary of NOK 488 900 a year. A pension contribution of 2% of the salary will be deducted as an obligatory premium to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
