Associate Professor in Logistics

The Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management, Section of Economics and Management in Gjøvik, is announcing a permanent position as associate professor in Logistics.

NTNU in Gjøvik offers Bachelor in Logistics, one of our focus areas within the Section of Economics and Management at Gjøvik, Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management, Faculty of Economics and Management at NTNU. The associate professor will be responsible for: a) designing and delivering courses; b) supervising student projects; c) mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; as well as d) developing research projects and applying for third party funding.

The language of instruction is Norwegian and/or English.

The successful candidate shall participate in exams work without special remuneration. He or she has the right and obligation to carry out research within his or her professional field. The associate professor is to be jointly responsible for academic matters together with other academic staff in the section. The successful candidate is required to participate in teaching activities in accordance with the relevant curriculum and to assist in further developing the teaching program, including continuing education. The successful candidate must agree to participate in administrative work.

The successful candidate is obliged to follow the regulations that concern changes and developments within the discipline and/or the organizational changes concerning activities at NTNU.

The successful candidate should have an internationally notable track record in research as well as in teaching, and should also have experience from leading research projects in a discipline/field related to the denomination of the position. Experience with transportation logistics, supply chain management, particularly procurement and distribution, is an asset.
The applicant must hold a PhD degree in engineering, economics, management or other related fields at the time of the application and will take responsibility, particularly in the program of Logistics (BSc). Moreover, if possible the candidate will also contribute to the program Business administration and management (BSc) at NTNU in Gjøvik.
Our ambition is to boost junior careers, and thus, we are particularly interested in receiving applications from young researchers.

Any person employed without university pedagogic competence and without documented equivalent qualifications, will be required to attend and complete a course in university pedagogics within two years. NTNU offers such courses.

Pedagogical qualifications will also be evaluated. The evaluation will be based on documented pedagogical material, pedagogical education, presentational skills in your scientific work and experience from Ph.D. - or master level counselling, and teaching and pedagogical background of other sorts. Total quality will be evaluated. The best qualified
candidates will be invited to do a trial lecture and have an interview at the department.

Payment and Working conditions
The associate professor, code 1011, is paid with a minimum salary of NOK 486,100 annually. Two percent of gross salary is deducted for the State Pension Scheme.

The appointment is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants. The employee is expected to accept possible changes in work tasks. Primary residency in Gjøvik is a prerequisite.

The total obligation to work shall be divided into research within the field, teaching and administration. The division between these fields of work obligation will vary, but approximately equal time should be devoted to research and teaching

Employees in academic positions who are not already fluent in a Scandinavian language must within three years obtain knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at an equivalent standard to level three in the Norwegian for Foreigners courses provided at the Department of Language- and Communication Studies. The University provides such courses.
