BERGEN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (HØGSKOLEN I BERGEN – HiB) is one of the largest university colleges in Norway, with about 7700 students and 830 academic and administrative staff. HiB offers high quality study programmes directed towards specific professions within health and social sciences, engineering, teacher and preschool teacher education. R&D activities of particular strength are organized in programmes in order to promote research-based education.
The Faculty of Education has about 2,650 students and a staff of 260. The Faculty offers four groups of programmes (Teacher Education, Preschool Teacher Education, Research and Development and several programmes at BA and MA level), comprising fourteen departments and two research centres. The Faculty also offers other bachelors and masters degrees in areas related to education, including Master in Drama and Master in Music Pedagogy and the Interpreter by Sign Language Education (BA). The Faculty also performs a wide range of research on matters concerning education and art, culture and communication in relation to education.
