The University of Stavanger (UiS) has about 12,000 students and 1,700 employees. We are the only Norwegian member of the European Consortium of Innovative Universities. The Faculty of Performing Arts offers higher education and artistic research in the field of performing arts. The faculty primarily educates performing musicians and dancers, instrumental- and dance teachers. This is done through bachelor's and master's programs in performance, as well as other continued education programs. The Faculty currently has approximately 220 students and 50 employees divided into subject sections of classical music, jazz / improvised music, dance, conducting, pedagogy and art education, as well as a unit for music production and recording. The Faculty of Performing Arts is active in national and international networks and has a regional responsibility for the Norwegian national talent development program. With a great number of concerts, performances and dissemination activities and working in close collaboration with the region's other art and cultural organizations, the Faculty of Performing Arts is also in itself a profiled cultural contributor in the region.

The Faculty of Performing Arts is strategically located with a campus at the heart of Stavanger’s cultural district in the Bjergsted Park.
