Chief engineer at the Department of Earth Science – temporary position

The Department of Earth Science has a vacancy for a temporary position (50%) as chief engineer. The position is for a period of 1.5 years with the possibility of an extension, depending on project financing. The position is associated to support for geodynamic modelling and the 3D seismic lab at GEO.

Work tasks:

  • Administration of software and data. General support for GIS.

  • General support with project management.

  • Practical IT support in the form of acquisition of hardware and software, software installation support and user administration.

Qualifications and personal qualities:

  • Applicants must have a master’s degree in science within a field which is relevant for the position.

  • Applicants must have basic IT-skills and basic experience with Linux systems.

  • A geoscience background and understanding of geological context will be an advantage.

  • The candidate must have good written and verbal English skills.

  • The candidate is expected to keep track of activities, work systematically, and be able to communicate well with others.

  • The candidate will also need to be able to take initiative, be flexible, and result oriented.

  • Personal qualities will be strongly emphasized.

  • Salary in the range of 53-60 (code 1087 Chief Engineer) in the Civil Service pay grade table according to qualifications, currently NOK 458 700 - 517 300 gross p.a.
