The university is located in the heart of Bergen. Our main contribution to society is excellent basic research and education across a wide range of disciplines.

Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in experimental particle physics

There is a vacancy for a temporary position as a postdoctoral research fellow in experimental particle physics at the Department of Physics and Technology, University of Bergen. The position is for a period of 3 years and is associated with the project "Norwegian High Energy Particle Physics Research with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider - Run2 at 13 TeV".

About the project/work tasks

The Bergen group is involved in physics analysis within the studies of the Higgs boson, studies of B-mesons, and searches for Supersymmetry. The group is also involved in the ITk project of the ATLAS upgrade program. Research is performed within the development of radiation-hard pixel sensors for the ITk, and the group also will take part in the construction and delivery of pixel sensor modules for the ITk. The person filling this position is expected to contribute strongly to the Higgs physics activities and to B-physics studies. In addition to perform analysis tasks on agreed topics in an independent fashion, the candidate is expected to contribute with help and guidance to students at the MSc and PhD level. He/she should also participate in test beam campaigns for sensor tests, as well as in upgrading existing laboratory facilities in order to perform quality assurance tests of ITk pixel modules and components.
