PhD position in Computer Security – 4 positions
At the Department of Informatics (http://www.uib.no/en/ii) we have 4 temporary positions as research fellow (PhD student) in computer security available. Each position is for 4 years.
About the project/work tasks
We invite applications within the fields of secure and reliable communication (including cryptography), coding theory, information theory and general computer security including computer and communication infrastructures, as well as the design and functionality of software with focus on security and robustness.
Qualifications and personal qualities:
The applicants must hold a master's degree or the equivalent in computer science, mathematics or a similar field of study. Candidates in their final semester are invited to apply if they plan to complete their final master’s exam by 1 September 2017. Employment will then be postboned until the master’s degree is obtained.
The applicants must have a solid background in topics that are relevant for the procject as outlined above.
The applicants must be highly motivated, able to work independently in a disciplined manner, and have the ability to cooperate with others.
Proficiency in both written and oral English is a requirement.
Since the candidates are expected to assist with teaching, documented proficiency in Norwegian may be considered an advantage.
About the PhD position
The duration of the PhD position is 4 years, of which 25 per cent of the time each year comprises required duties associated with research, teaching and dissemination of results. The employment period may be reduced if you have previously been employed in a recruitment position.
The candidate will be assigned to work in a relevant research group within the department or in our affiliated unit Simula@uib, (https://simula-uib.com), depending on qualifications and research interest.
About the research training
As a PhD candidate, you must participate in an approved educational programme for a PhD degree within a time period of 4 years (equivalent to 3 years of full time work).A final plan for the implementation of the research training must be approved by the faculty within 3 months after you have commenced in the position. It is a condition that you satisfy the enrolment requirements for the PhD programme at the University of Bergen.
