Researcher in algorithms – up to two temporary positions

At the Department of Informatics there are up to two positions as researcher in the field of algorithms for a period of one year available within the project “Multivariate Algorithms: New domains and paradigms” (FRIPRO).

 

About the Department

The Department has 6 research groups: Algorithms, Bioinformatics, Optimization, Programming Theory, Reliable Communication and Visualization. About the project/work tasks

The successful candidate will work with Professor Fedor Fomin. The goal of this project is the study of multivariate algorithms. The research areas are algorithms and complexity, in particular, fixed parameter tractability, parameterized complexity and kernelization.

 

Qualifications and personal qualities:

  • The applicants must hold a Norwegian PhD or an equivalent degree within informatics, or must have submitted his/her doctoral thesis for assessment prior to the application deadline. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded.
  • Experience from Algorithms or Graf Theory is required.
  • Work independently and in a structured manner
  • The applicants must be proficient in both written and oral English.

  • Salary at pay grade 57 (code 1109) upon appointment. Further promotions are made according to length of service (grade 57–65). For particularly highly qualified applicants, a higher salary may be considered.
