The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Bolivia was established in 2007. As recognized in the agreement signed by the Government of Bolivia and the High Commissioner, the Office’s mandate includes the monitoring of the human rights situation in order to inform and provide advice to the national authorities, and the provision of technical assistance and cooperation to the national authorities, civil society, indigenous and social organizations with a view to contribute in improving the national capacity to protect and promote human rights. The Office also follows-up on the Bolivian State implementation of recommendations made by international human rights protection mechanisms, thus helping to improve the State's compliance with international human rights standards.
